To help foster communication between CAT members and the South Mountain Study Team, we will make use of this online journal. Use this entry to post general comments or just check in. You don't need to create an account, but please identify yourself in all postings (we will probably delete anonymous posts). This is something new so be patient and give us some time to get everything up and running.
As information becomes available, we will cross-post it here and on the SMCAT Web pages at www.SouthMountainFreeway.com.
Thanks,

Why is this taking so long. Ahwatukee knew about the proposed freeway and they chose to build where they did. NOW they are holding up an extremely needed road. I feel miles away from everything. It takes forever to get anywhere on weekday mornings. Tell them to get over it, and lets move on. I have been in limbo since they sent out the letters that they were conducting their study. Is my house affected by right of way or not, will I have to relocate? Should I spend money for upgrades and improvements now if it will just be getting torn down. On the map I am three houses away from the red line but a neighbor told me that at the HOA meeting they were told who was affected and that my house was included (just). How can I find out this info. If the house is staying, I will upgrade and improve, if It is not I will wait and start looking for a new house, neighborhood, and schools for my children.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments. They will be included as part of the study record.
ReplyDeleteCurrently, there has not been a decision on whether the proposed South Mountain Freeway will be built, and if so, where the final alignment would be located. To further complicate matters, the Maricopa County region has a $5 billion freeway funding shortfall. Because of this, the regional planners and leaders are evaluating changes to all future freeway plans. Should the freeway be constructed, the current proposed alignment is along Pecos Road in the southeast portion of the Study Area; 55th Avenue is the preliminary preferred alternative in the western section.
If you wish to find out how your property relates to the proposed freeway alignments, please contact us directly by e-mail at ADOT@PolicyDevelopmentGroup.com. General corridor maps are also available here: http://www.southmountainfreeway.com/maps.asp.
Should you have any further questions, please let me know.
